A three month experience.

When I first got here, I didn't know what to expect. I thought I had a pretty clear idea of what office work would be like: A boring day, filling paperwork in the dull darkness of a skyscraper's smoked windows. But then I realized I was  wrong.

In fact, when I started working at Reya - a growing boat equipment SMB settled in the south of France - I realized how calm and friendly it could be. In fact, people knew each other well and were close to one another which could be common you'll tell me. But before discovering the world of SMBs, I didn't know that proximity, freedom and a good work atmosphere could exist.

My main mission:
to attract, understand and convince the client.

Websites, newsletters and catalogues form the outer shell of a company's vision and purpose, and play a major role in its appearance as it is the only thing clients are able to perceive through its thick and impenetrable skin. That's why it has to be perfect, (or almost) for the clients to trust and embrace what the company can give them.

Most of my missions consisted in keeping a good relationship between the company and the client through the different interfaces on which they could see us. Translating the website into French was one of them. It was quite a hard task as every word has a specific and minutely chosen meaning and a lot of them were very technical. I spent a long time looking for the best words and clear sentences as well as proofreading myself because just a tiny mistake could take away the serious brand image of the company.

I learned a lot from this work. Now I understand how important it is to offer everyone the possibility to understand everything in their own language. That's why we are now working on the Italian, Spanish, German and Chinese versions of the website.
